New Zealand
The company's roots go back over 50 years to 1945, when
Messrs Burr & Douglas operated a general engineering
shop in Newmarket, Auckland. The production engineering
firm of G.M.Douglas Ltd expanded and began to specialise
in hydraulic component manufacture, relocating to larger
premises in 1955. The business was acquired by
D.McL.Wallace Limited in 1976 and manufacturing of
hydraulic components was expanded and the Hydraulink
brand established.
Hydraulink Fluid Connectors Ltd was purchased by Lee
Short and Noel Davies in 1989 and the company has been
transformed into an international manufacturing and
franchised distribution network with over ninety
FAST·FIX Service Outlets and over 100 FAST·FIX Mobile
Service Vans throughout New Zealand, and the Pacific
Island countries.
Australia
Over the past 15 years, Hydraulink has been establishing
major distribution bases in key Australian states.
Hydraulink now has outlets in Brisbane, Sydney,
Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Kalgoorlie. These outlets
in turn have many sub distributors and direct accounts
within their states, including a growing mobile van
network.
The initiative to expand into Australia took a major
step forward with the acquisition of Auspower Hydraulics
on the 1st of August 2001. It was re-named to Hydraulink
Australia and the acquisition gave Hydraulink a
readymade Head office and National Distribution facility
in Sydney, with experienced staff and a comprehensive
range of stock. This acquisition is the base from which
Hydraulink will continue the planned growth in
Australia, and will enable them to respond overnight to
Australian customer demands.
