For almost 20 years Sensation New Zealand has been building a reputation for quality and cost effectiveness. In 1995 Ivan Erceg became a partner in Sensation New Zealand and then went on to purchase the company. At the time, Sensation New Zealand was finishing Mari Cha III, a magnificent ketch that was awarded the prestigious International Super Yacht Design Award in 1998. Ivan Erceg has invested significant resources into Sensation New Zealand to make it a world class facility. To cope with strong demand for its high quality products, Sensation New Zealand has expanded its premises to include the adjacent property as well as upgrading and refitting the existing factory and constructing four under-cover boat building bays. Sensation New Zealand's premises now include specialist workshops for engineering, electrical, interior and exterior woodwork, painting and finishing as well as storage and load-out facilities. Expansion has also been a catalyst for the company to promote its expertise in aluminium construction techniques as well as in steel and composite materials. Staff numbers have increased from 100 to more than 400 employees in the last three years to cope with the dramatic increase in boat orders. The company now has a number of super yacht orders on its books with three more large motor yachts (45-51m) currently under construction and several more in planning. Direct benefits from the company's expansion include the capacity to service both refits and new constructions, the ability to build super yachts over 165' and the resources to manage a number of vessels at any one time.
